Douglas Watson
Watson’s interest is in colour and form is expressed mostly through abstract work. He sees his paintings as distillations of years of accumulated impressions of people and natural forms. His response to this is primarily in terms of feeling. Part of this is the sheer joy of painting.
He is interested in finding colours and forms that correspond to a particular feeling—a resonance between what is seen on the canvas and experienced inwardly. He sees a close correspondence to the experience of music and abstract painting.
